In-Studio with John Jay from Harper's Nurseries & Landscaping Company!
Also joined by Tim Freeland with Arizona Trellis. We're talking sheds and what can you do with your landscape to improve the looks around a shed in the backyard. How about an iron trellis for plants to grow up?
Caller:
Recommendation - It sounds like it could be mold or a fungus after the heavy rains during the monsoon season.
We share local events from Local First Arizona and Rosie jumps in to talk about......you guessed it, food! We sample barbecue from OKB and love it!
We hope you didn't miss the Phoenix Tour de Coops. Our friends from Flower Street Urban Gardens were the last stop.
Callers:
Recommendation - With 3 different types of trees all suffering, something clearly happened in that area to cause the problem. (Pool drained, gas leak, soil conditions, etc.)
Happy Veteran's Day to our listener's!
The crew discuss options for using a trellis with Tim from Arizona Trellis.
Reminder......Fall is the best time to plant. The stress from all the heat is gone and it gives your plants all winter to establish a solid root system before the stress of an Arizona summer.
*We break down winter lawns....it's not too late to reseed!
Caller:
Recommendation - Oleander is really really tough plant and Jay's seen them grow back even after a fire. There's not much he can do, so just go ahead with the new plants and remove the shoots as they come up. Winter is not the best time to prune. Wait until spring!
Romey and Tim with Arizona Trellis talk about all the different things they can do at your home and Jay shares his favorite vines to grow over a trellis.
Did you know you can grow a watermelon or squash on a vertical trellis?.? It's true!
Thanks to Jay with Harper's Nurseries & Landscaping Company!

We continue with Water Use It Wisely and what you can do to cut down on your useage.
Click here for 100+ ways to conserve water at your home. Remember, most of your water useage is outside, NOT inside.
Callers:
Recommendation - Verify that the ceiling junction box is strong enough to hold the new weight. Add support if needed and just use bolt cutter's to snap the chain.
Recommendation - Rosie loves using gas for appliances in his home, but he "doesn't mess with it." It could be the electronic ignition & sanding down the tip could get it back up and running. For help, call Thunderbird Plumbing.
Recommendation - It sounds like thermal cracks from the framing, not a foundation issue. We'll investigate and work with her to find a solution.
Callers:
Recommendation - Listen as we break down the process. It can take 15 minutes or all weekend. It all depends on how much sediment is in the system. It's important to do this to prevent emergencies.
We thank Donna from Water Use it Wisely. Win a trip to Disneyland! Just play the game, here.

Sheds! Rosie's shed is like a used sports equipment store....the neighbor's is a practice facility for his friends to play music. They're not just to store the mower.
We have fun correcting Rosie's English & Jennifer sets him straight on a few things!
Callers:
Recommendation - Rosie gets technical and walks through the steps to assure a safe and water tight transition to the new roof. Hint: Make sure the roof extends past the slab. You'll never be dissapointed with a larger roof.
Caller:
Recommendation - It's a simple fix and a common mistake. There's a plug inside the disposal for her situation. Simply remove the hose attached to the disposal. Next, take a hammer and a screwdriver to knock it out and simply fish out the plug and reconnect the house.
Recommendation - Buy a circuit tester to verify what's not working, then replace any bad outlets. BE SAFE.....ELECTRICITY IS DANGEROUS!!!!
