On the House Hour: Is That Dripping From Your AC Condensate Line A Good Thing? Featuring Trane

TRANElogo

Most Arizona homeowners would assume that our AC's are working hard during the hottest part of the summer because of high temperatures. But high temperatures are only part of the reason our units are working at maximum capacity..."humidity is the real culprit as it demands our units to not only cool but also remove the moisture from a much heavier air"

Richard Rojo with Trane will join us in studio to why humidity puts stress on our AC, variable Speed technology, & how purification systems work!

Increased humidity reduces the efficiency of your air conditoning unit.  Two things to check is the delta split and the condensate PVC line.

Rooftop units have the line coming off the roof, attic units have two lines below and above out the side of the home.   What they're designed to do and pay particular attention to attic lines to avoid potention home damage.

How the unit produces condensate.  And the easy answer to the question 'What is air conditioning'?

The compressor is the most expensive part of the unit.  Richard explains the function of the compressor.  The 'heart' of  air conditioning.

Discussion of the difference between the two stage and variable speed compressors.  How both have improved the efficiency and energy savings of conditioning the home.

What was learned with air conditioning sizing.

Segment 3 (running time )

Listen to this segment

Discussion of the refrigerant.  The 'coolant' inside your unit.  Clarifying the R-22 refrigerant confusion and why you should not give into pressure to replace a unit with R-22.  Plus why you should consider replacing an older unit with R-22.
