Text From a Caller:

  • He has a 20 year old mesquite tree and their are cracks around the tree that look like fissures. What could be causing this and how to fix it?

Recommendation - This is a concern and could indicate the tree has blown in the wind enough to damage the roots. It's a warning that it could be unstable. Guying the tree could avoid any further damage. Listen to John as he describes some of the tips to keep it healthy.

Caller:

  • Alice - Her ashe tree is near an underground gas line and she's concerned it's too close?

Segment 3 (running time 13:22)

Listen to this segment

*Romey talks about great products from Bonide to control critters around your home and garden.

Callers:

  • Ronnie - He leaves water out for his dogs and a kiddie pool for them to cool off in too because he drives truck for a living. Is that a concern for misquitoes?

Recommendation - If he cleans it out and refills it every 3 or 4 days he should be fine. That's how long it takes for them to cycle into more misquitoes.

  • Frank - He is a contractor and a customer needs some work done in an area with bees in the soffit. He treated it last week, but came back and there are still a few around. The homeowner took care of it on a Friday and will it be okay to come back on Monday?

Recommendation - It just depends on if they are still around. The hive needs to be completely removed so more bees aren't attracted to the area. Curtis talks about why that's necessary and the issues surrounding it.

  • Sharon called in to remind people to beware of opening the irrigation boxes because they can live in there as well. She tells of a story of escaping a swarm too, plus reminds us that they can return to unnoccopied hives as well.

*Did you know hives can go from a solid to a liquid and that can damage your home too. Nate discusses the cleaning they do to guarantee that bees won't set up shop again.

*What about scorpions? Rosie recently had a few show up at his place!

Segment 4 (running time 5:56)

If you're in the valley and need pest control at your home, call Nate & Curtis at Blue Sky Pest Control!
