The Arizona Farm Bureau's Julie Murphree is joined by Mandy Kirkendall of Apple Annie's Farm And Country Store. A family farming operation and one of the premiere 'you-pick' fruit and vegetable farm in Willcox, Arizona.
Mandy talks about the history of the Kirkendall Family starting the farm by planting apple and other fruit trees with the intention of harvesting a commercial crop. It turned into a shared experience of the orchard, the farm and lifestyle they share with thousands of visiting families.

Discussion of the apple and peach harvest times in Willcox. The higher elevation harvest from mid to late summer, early fall.
Apple trivia including why Arizona apples taste sweeter that apples grown in all 50 states.

Apple Annie's focus is more educational and less agritainment. Mandy explains they want visitors to experience the farm life. Especially when they bring their kids.
Some of the attractions for their fall festival include a corn maze. So big, they have 'corn cops' to assist if needed. Some of their famous treats like apple pie (of course), apple cider donuts and their own apple bread for starters.

On October 1st, 2021, APS is scheduled to reduce its solar energy buyback rate. This means that anyone who goes solar after September 30th will earn less when they sell their excess energy back to APS.
