Why don't we have basements in Arizona?

  • Frost line is at 18" vs the 48" of the Northern states (Minnesota, etc). You have to dig so much further to complete a basement. But - if you have the money to keep digging, it can be done.

Recommendation: the two biggest enemies to any type of wood, or mock-wood flooring, is water, and sand.

  • If you're going to use laminate - use the 12mm!
  • Don't cut financial corners on the flooring pad! You'll be glad you spent the extra money!
  • For hardwood floors Von likes Hickory

Recommendation: For the best results and look for your hardwood, yes! But it will be working against your a/c.

Recommendation: Seal your sub floor to make it an even surface- then go with wood!

  • Bamboo flooring - comes with 25% humidity and must wait several weeks or months to be installed. NOT a favorable option
