Farmer Greg is a big proponent of having chickens.  They have lots of benefits.

Great American Seed Up!!

Edible landscapes need to contribute something to your yard.  For food and shade.  Examples like palo verde and sweet potatoes.

Observation of your space for your landscape.  Heat, shadows, walking around the neighborhood to see what plants and trees are thriving.

North, south, east, west directions add imporant value to your landscape.  Greg explains.

Generally speaking, best place to put a garden is the east side of a structure or wall.

CALLER:  Has a grapefruit tree thats drying up and dying.  Concerned about a healthy lemon tree nearby.  Could the dying tree affect the healthy tree?

The success of your plants and trees is based on your soil.  Not just the dirt of your space.

Be a cultivator of healthy soil with 5 components:  dirt, air space, water, organic matter and anything alive in the soil.

Quick fix:  add organic matter.  Like compost, plant mix.

Never plant your garden in an area where bermuda and nut grass was unless you completely pull it out.

Talks about Lasagna Gardening!  Adding layers of organic materials that will 'cook down' over time giving you rich, flully soil.  Great use of composting matter.
