TEXT: Regarding lawn transitioning from winter rye to summer bermuda, should they fertilize the overseeded the lawn now? (No. Jay explains why this is the time to allow the rye grass to die off).
The advantage of not needing a bermuda summer lawn. Unless it has a purpose in the landscape for any activity.
The benefits of artificial turf.

Discussion of garden transition to summer vegetables. You can grow melons, squash, eggplant and others.
If you're short on garden space, consider growing on a trellis.

Discussion of the gardening boom! A long time seed company had its best year ever! Of the 6 million new gardeners, 80% of them are millennials!
The best way to start a garden is small. Grow what you like to eat! Jay has examples of the containers you can use. Potting soil needs nutrients.
Gardening is great exercise and satisfaction of growing your own food.

Talking weed control!
CALLER: For the second year in a row, goat head (stickers) weeds are growing in the lawn. Is it time to completely remove the lawn? Because its a broad leaf weed, it can be killed without hurting the lawn.
Rosie's suggestion: Call Scottsdale Weed Control.
The key to prevent weeds is applying pre-emergent. There are different pre-emergents for lawn and decomposed granite.

Explains how they developed their 10 Year Paint Warranty on exterior paints jobs using a Sherwin Williams paint called Duration. He explains the application process and why this paint makes a difference in getting 'Rosie Certified'.
Joe explains a paint application called cross hatching. And the importance of a 4 hour dry time.

CALLER: A 2004 stucco home painted 4 years ago. The paint on the stucco looks like its disintegrating like sandpaper was rubbed on it. Sure sign of moisture intrusion.

Weekly To Do on opening up the home interior. Generally speaking homes built in 1978 or older had separate rooms divided by walls.
CALLER: Looking to soundproof a bathroom wall. The wall in particular is shared with the living room wall. It was suggested putting tile on the bathroom wall. Rosie has some additional ideas.

More on the Weekly To Do on open spaces. Once you determine that the wall is not load bearing or shear, before you do the demo, test the drywall for asbestos and lead.
Prep work before demo. Block off all the air conditioning registers. Use a drywall knife blade to cut the sheetrock safely before using a saw. Avoid cutting possible electrical work. And tips on installing new drywall and mud patching.
