- Laura - She has a pine tree that have branches that are sagging and are in the way. Is this normal and if she trims them, what's the proper way to treat it?

We continue to talk about the Mesquite Tree. Did you know the pods are edible!?!?
Callers:
- Ted - He has an aleppo pine in his neighborhood that is dead and he's concerned about it's safety. The city is taking too long and he was told they were looking for volunteers to take it down. Is that safe?
Recommendation - This is a very dangerous undertaking and should be done with professional supervision.
- Ryan - He has a 35 foot Mesquite tree that's covered in mistletoe and its too high for him to get at. What should he do?
Recommendation - Call a professional. It's a very tough job even for the professionals.

Listen to this segment

- Nancy - She has a Goldwater Pine that part of the top snapped off and is looks like it's dying.

Segment 1 (running time 12:39)
Listen to this segment
We discuss the recent rain and one of Rosie's favorite sites to track Arizona weather. It's Rain Log website,
Here!
CONSUMER ALERT: After the heavy rains, beware of the scammer's who come in to take advantage. We discuss what you should be doing to make the right choice.
*Always visit the Arizona Registrar of Contractors website,
here.
Callers:
- Brett - He had a problem with his Air Conditioning a few weeks ago and wanted to thank Integrity Air Conditioning for doing such an incredible job. Brad went the extra mile and listener's should know about the great service they provide!
- Scott - He has a brand new house with several issues. One of the issues is with the interior doors. They are an inch and a half or more from the floor, leaving gaps under each door and he wants to know what to do.
We continue with Scott's question in the next segment.......
Segment 2 (running time 6:10)
Listen to this segment
......we continue our conversation with Scott
Recommendation - The door gaps Scott is talking about is NOT standard for the air flow in his home. The wide gaps on the bottom of his door are excessive. Unfortunately, there isn't a very easy fix. He can either try to get the contractor to replace the doors or he can extend them, which is quite a bit of work.
*Listen as we discuss Scott's issues and what the procedures and standards are for his situation. Get educated and don't let shady contractors give you false information.
Segment 3 (running time 13:41)
Listen to this segment

- Anna - She is doing some work at her Mother-In-Law's home. She has a patio with artificial turf she wants to remove. It's really tough and wants tome tips.

Recommendation - Rosie shares all the different options for Pete and what he can do in his home.
- Julie - She is leaking thousands of gallons a water a day and doesn't know where it's going. It's been over 3 months and her water bills are huge......what should she do?
Recommendation - We're stumped......It's time to call a plumber! Call Stampede Plumbing to investigate.
Segment 4 (running time 5:34)
Listen to this segment
Callers:
- Janet - After only 3 years, her iron security door is starting to fade and look pretty bad. What should she do?
Recommendation - Call the company that installed the door to see what they can do. The door should probably be powder coated and if the original company won't help, call the Arizona Painting Company or Daves Adobe Painting Services and make sure they use quality paints from PPG Pittsburgh Paints.
- Pam - Her toilet is continually running and she wants to know what it should cost to replace the interior parts of the tank?
Recommendation - The price depends on whether or not she buys the parts herself and this repair is something a lot of homeowner's can do themselves. If she needs help, a service call usually runs around $100. Call Stampede Plumbing or Babcock Plumbing.

Segment 1 (running time 12:09)
Listen to this segment
In-Studio with Nate & Curtis with Blue Sky Pest Control!
We're talking Termites and other Critters!
Curtis shares all the options homeowner's have when it comes to eliminating termites here in Arizona.
- What to expect in a bare lot if you're planning to build new.
- Do you see "mud tunnels" in your home....now what??
- Professional's should use Termidor. (We discuss why it's so effective)
*Learn the difference between "Repellent" versus "Non-repellant" and what the right application is for each type.
Caller:
- Wade - He just replaced his floor and was very careful to watch for termite damage. He didn't find anything, but when he went to clean the scrap pile in his garage, he found a damaged table. He knows the termites are isolated to the garage. Can he treat only part of his house or does that mean the whole house is infected?
Recommendation - We'll answer it in the next segment........
Segment 2 (running time 6:41)
Listen to this segment
.......we answer Wade's question from the last segment.
Recommendation - Termites absolutely LOVE CARDBOARD! Be careful to keep your home clear of debris and piles that turn into food for termites. Spot treating is a bad idea! The colony is always bigger than you think.
*The guys discuss the new threats to Arizona...like roof rats (eww!) and the increase in the scorpion population. Learn how to protect your yard and home.
Segment 3 (running time 13:00)
Listen to this segment
In-Studio with
Blue Sky Pest Control. Call them at
480-635-8492480-635-8492!
We continue our discussion about the biggest threats and what you can do about it.
Callers:
- John - He wanted to know if you need to be more careful about termites in a block home or a wood framed home?
Recommendation - Termites like soft woods and that usually means the interior trim around the interior of your home is most likely to get damaged, so either home is susceptible.
- Bonnie - She's seen a few mice around the outside of her home, even though she's never seen any inside. How can she make sure they're not in the walls and also make sure her dogs are safe?
Recommendation - It's very very likely they are already in the home. They reproduce incredibly fast. Any chemicals that treat for mice are usually toxic and should probably be handled by a professional.
- Jeff - A local company uses sonar and infrared to find termites. Is this a good idea?
Recommendation - Both of those technologies can work if done properly. It's usually unnecessary and experts should be able to find termites without it.
- Rita - She just moved into a new home and it's in a fairly wooded area. She's finding black widow spiders around the property and wants to know what her options are.
Recommendation - It's a common problem in this area, especially this time of year. She can actually vacuum them up and treat the area after they're removed.
(And, of course Rosie's tip involves fire! NOT RECOMMENDED by the Professionals)
Segment 4 (running time 5:51)
Listen to this segment
Callers:
- Larry - He has a mountain home that he's sure has termites. Can they treat the outside of the home instead of the inside to avoid all the drill holes.
Recommendation - There are a few options that don't require drilling, but Blue Sky Pest Control uses color specific filler that makes the holes practically invisible.
*We discuss the different types of products for homeowers and which are safe to use.
Thanks to Blue Sky Pest Control! If you need help controlling pests around your home, call 480-635-8492.
