Arizona Farm Bureau's Julie Murphree guest is Jim Graham.  Owner of Golden Rule Vineyards.  Producing Arizona pistachios and wine grapes.

Jim's history from his beginnings family farming in Iowa to growing pistachios and grapes.  Both require climate sensitive areas.  The Cochise/Willcox area is close to the right climate compared to the native Middle Eastern countries.

Second to California in pistachio production.  First produced in the US in 1976.  Pistachios are mentioned in the Bible.

Pistachios are technically called a  droupe.  Not a seed or nut.

Jim discusses harvesting and processing pistachios.  Shaking the trees to collect them but cannot touch the ground.  Explains how the shell must be processed quickly to avoid staining of the shell.

The one thing paint companies started doing:  Sample pint paints of different colors to try on your interior to help decide on the color you want.  Includes Rosie's tip on choosing the color.

CALLER:  Give a good tip on being careful choosing three shades of the same color after painting his home interior.   Had his home exterior painted by a professional company.  Noticed on the second story stucco high up, the old color in the creases of the stucco still appears and its extensive.  Is that something to be concerned about?

Importance of not rushing a paint project.  Proper preparation, brush strokes, paint rolling patterns.

CALLER:  Joe from Mesa is a 40 year professional painter with some tips of his own.  For opening paint cans, he uses a 5 And 1 tool.  In closing the can, the point end is used to poke small holes inside the ridge to let the paint drain.  And a pouring trick too!

Discussion of properly mixing the paint before you apply it.  Plus a brush tip after you dip into the paint.  Tap it on the interior side of the can/bucket.  Not wipe off the side.  Movement of the brush is key.
