Here's an overview of this week's three-hour homeowner radio broadcast
Outdoor Living Hour: Talking Trees with John Eisenhower John Eisenhower, Steve Price and Catherine Scalfani of SavATree join us to talk about the gardening hashtags of the week! #TrimCaliforniaFanPalms & #DesertWillow |

On the House Hour: Is That Dripping From Your AC Condensate Line A Good Thing? Featuring Trane Most Arizona homeowners would assume that our AC's are working hard during the hottest part of the summer because of high temperatures. But high temperatures are only part of the reason our units are working at maximum capacity..."humidity is the real culprit as it demands our units to not only cool but also remove the moisture from a much heavier air" Richard Rojo with Trane will join us in studio to why humidity puts stress on our AC, variable Speed technology, & how purification systems work! |

Homeowner Topic: Open Home! Weekly To-Do: #HoneyDos | Special guest Allen Hopkins, owner of Rosie Certified Handyman Connection joins us to discuss how to get that HoneyDo List done, and when to call in a Pro! Got A Question? Call in!

SavATree Integrity Tree Service's John Eisenhower and Stephen Price discuss the effects and care for trees and plants with the current extreme heat. Especially when it comes to proper watering if monsoon rains doesn't provide enough.
Some trees go into a natural dormancy with lack of rain. Way to check it.
The Tree Of The Month: Desert Willow. They can be shrubs to full grown trees. Flowers in the summer. One particular is the lucretia hamilton desert willow.
Preping trees for monsoon storm wind. John discusses how a tree risk assessment keeps your tree from wind damage. Looking at branch size that could fail and tree uprooting prevention.
EMAIL: Seeing palo verde beetles crawling out of holes around the tree. Sign there maybe more eating the roots of the tree underground. How can I get rid of them?
John explains the three stages of beetles. Pupa, Larva and Adult. Larva eat the roots.
CALLER: Has a red push pistache. When it leafed out, a third of the tree produced curled leaves that didn't mature to full. John explains a possible problem called girdling root. That kind of strangles the other roots of nutrients.
CALLER: Has Arizona Ash Trees. Uses a soaker every 10 days to water them. Is that long enough or over watering?
Discussion of irrigation. John's suggestion on soaker hoses of mature trees. Advantages of a soil probe to measure the moisture depth around the tree. Watering around the radius of the tree. Watch the weather! A good soaking followed by a good rains could be a problem.
Trane's Southwest District Sales Leader Richard Rojo talks about your air conditoner performance in the heat of the summer!
Increased humidity reduces the efficiency of your air conditoning unit. Two things to check is the delta split and the condensate PVC line.
Rooftop units have the line coming off the roof, attic units have two lines below and above out the side of the home. What they're designed to do and pay particular attention to attic lines to avoid potention home damage.
How the unit produces condensate. And the easy answer to the question 'What is air conditioning'?
The compressor is the most expensive part of the unit. Richard explains the function of the compressor. The 'heart' of air conditioning.
Discussion of the difference between the two stage and variable speed compressors. How both have improved the efficiency and energy savings of conditioning the home.
What was learned with air conditioning sizing.
Discussion of the refrigerant. The 'coolant' inside your unit. Clarifying the R-22 refrigerant confusion and why you should not give into pressure to replace a unit with R-22. Plus why you should consider replacing an older unit with R-22.
CALLER: Has a 9 year old Trane unit with routine maintenance twice a year. But its making a loud noise when it goes on.
CALLER: Looking at a new Trane unit to replace a 14 year old unit. What to look for in a proper installer.
Rosie says before you get a new unit proposal, insist on a Manuel J Calculation. He explains why.
CALLER: Has a condensate line connected to a plumbing vent so it doesn't drip on the ground. Turns out its a code violation. Rosie explains.
CALLER: The A/C unit is on the ground next to the window of a modular home. Is there a way to quiet the outside fan more everytime it comes on?
Rosie On The House contractor reviews are done by third party Guild Quality
Bob Ross discusses whole home surge protection from lightning strikes. Bob explains how it works with Lightning Busters
Our Staycation winner Trey talks about his weekend in Taylor, Arizona at The Heritage Inn Bed & Breakfast and the sights he saw.
CALLER: 1987 single story home with a 33 year old flat roof of aluminum coating properly maintained every 5 years. Advice from roof inspections range from roof spot fixes to a complete re-roofing. Suggestions on how to procede.
CALLER: The patio fascia needs replacing but has a torch down roof. Does it all need total replacement?
Allen Hopkins of Handyman Connection helps us with the most asked question of the week. What do I need to know when storing things in the attic?
Cutting a ceiling hole for an attic door must be fire rated in a closed in garage.
Allen talks about the services Handyman Connection offers especially on those 'honey do' lists.
CALLER (not aired): Regarding supercooling, is it hard on the A/C unit to run for longer hours without stopping?
Takeaways from today's show.
