Farmer Greg discusses planting new fruit trees and the types of fruit trees that grow well in the desert.  FruitTrees.org  Plus extreme plant care after the hottest summer on record.

Explains the three thing to avoid planting your trees:  hot microclimates, lawns and proper watering.

Farmer Greg's 6-6 Rule around your tree:  6 feet diameter basin, 6 inches of woody mulch.

Digging a 2 foot by 2 foot square hole and performing a percolation test to see how long water takes to drain in the hole.

Explains the 60-40 mix for the hole:  40% dirt, 60% planting mix.  Plus what goes into that planting mix.

Farmer Greg explains gopher basket method if you have gopher issues before you plant your trees.

Protecting your tree with shade.  Planting, providing shade on the west side of the tree.  Another way is planting ground cover of sweet potatoes and cowpeas in your tree basin to cool the ground.

Another point on extreme care in fertilizing.  Using grandular fertilizer on Valentine's Day, Tax Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Anthony Dominguez of HyKreations discusses foliar feeding.  A technique to deliver nutrients, fertilizer and minerals directly on the tree branches, leaves, bark, fruit by means of a spraying device.

Anthony explains mixing the liquid with water using HyKreations products.  The key is not using much on the tree.  And 'packs a punch'!  The products are fish based.  Anthony explains the benefits for the tree and how they discovered it.

NOTE:  Foliar feeding has been effective keeping your trees in shape for extreme heat.

Greg has a sprayer modification kit for a one and two gallon sprayer that speeds up the application and able to reach 10 feet.

Foliar feeding is good for all trees and gardens.  Plus help them in extreme heat and make the food taste better.

3 things you have to know before you buy a fruit tree:  Chill hours, correct root stock and all fruit needs to be off the tree by July 1st.  Greg explains.

Explaination of Course Of Construction Insurance.  Provides insurance during the course of construction against damage or loss.  New builds, additions and remodeling.

Homeowners that are remodeling should know its more that construction materials.  Expensive appliance packages could be damaged or stolen.

Deal with a contractor that has Course Of Construction coverage.  Then see if that coverage is available for your homeowners insurance.  If so, you must have a licensed bonded insured contractor and 40% or more of your home is under remodel.  Clay explains how it works.

Discussion of replacement cost.  If the dwelling is a total loss, what does the insurance company allow as a reconstruction cost.  Clay goes over working with insurance for details on your current home construction to determine how much coverage you need and the average cost per square foot to rebuild.
