Question by Text:
- Doug - He has horses and wants a suggestion for screening plant other than oleander?
Recommendation - Most horses won't eat oleander if they are fed properly (we don't condone this) but he could consider a sour orange bush, common murtle, hop seed or orange/yellow bells.
- Tucson listener - How far apart should pines be planted in SE Arizona for a good wind screen?
Recommendation - It depends on the variety, but Jay would go 12 to 15 feet apart so the edges touch and block more of the wind.
Segment 4 (running time 4:31)
Listen to this segment
Questions by Text:
- How do you eliminate burn spots in his lawn from the pets?
Recommendation - Tomato juice on your pets food will help stop it before it starts. If it comes in darker green, you need to fertilize your lawn!
- Ryan - When should I cover my bushes so they don't get damaged by frost?
Recommendation - Usually, there is a frost warning the night before that will tell you. Remember, temps at your home are relative to the temps listed on forecasts. You may be cooler or warmer than temps registered near your area.
If you have questions for Jay during the week, find him at Harper's Nursery & Landscaping Company in Scottsdale.
