Need a plan to starting a garden. Spend time observing the space where you're planning a garden. Sun, shade, water runoff. Permaculture.
First thing to consider: where the sun is at during the year.
Identify your Microclimates: a zone where the climate is different from the surrounding area. Could be small for a garden bed or large.
On the west side of your garden, plant shade. Benefits cooling your house.
Mulch around your shade trees breaks down to amazing soil that makes them thrive.

View your yard/garden as a system. Putting systems in place to get healty soil, letting nature do the work.
Don't de-thatch. It acts as organic compost for the seasons.

DOLAN ELLIS - ARIZONA'S OFFICIAL STATE BALLADEER
Dolan's work is to continue the preservation of folklore and history in Arizona.
Original memeber of the folk group The Christy Minstrels.
Originially from Kanas, Dolan tells his story of how he made it to Phoenix for a career in television.
Knew he wanted to sing. Learned by peforming folk music at Phoenix area coffee houses and clubs back in the day. (Green Gables Club and Portofinos Coffee House)
Dolan has a display at The MIM - The Musicial Instrument Museum Scottsdale. Includes his first guitar.
Tells a great story about Waylon Jennings and his first record deal.
Dolan wrote a book about the mystery I-17 Christmas tree north of Sunset Point that is decorated every holiday for decades. Its a mystery who decorates it. Titled:
SCRUBBY - THE I-17 MYSTERY CHRISTMAS TREE
