What is Rosie’s favorite nonprofit organization? Text

Of the hundreds of worthy local nonprofits Rosie could devote time and money to, Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona is his choice.

Habitat for Humanity offers low-income families a chance to own their homes. Those families, alongside Habitat volunteers, actually build the houses. Once they move in, they pay mortgages, and those payments help to replenish the Habitat coffers for future projects.

Rosie likes Habitat because it offers people “a hand up, not a handout.” Its mission is to obliterate substandard housing. That’s all relevant to the Cajun carpenter’s passion for housing and construction, of course.
But Habitat represents more than new homes. It represents hope for people who never
thought they would own homes. It also represents the spirit and generosity of the people of Arizona, who sign up in droves to help build the homes, to volunteer in the Habitat office or
store, or to donate cash to the cause.

Around the world, Habitat has built more than 300,000 homes since 1976. It’s an organization that is global, but it’s influence is also very strong here in Arizona.
