How can I keep my wood or laminate floors looking nice? Text

  • Attach felt pads to the bottom of furniture legs so they won’t scratch the floor.
  • Cover heavily traveled areas like entrances with throw rugs. Avoid the kind with rubber backs, as the backing can discolor the floor.
  • Take off your high heels or cleats before walking on the floor. A 125-pound woman in high heels can press up to 8,000 pounds per square inch of pressure onto the tip of her heel when it touches the floor!
  •  Do not use cleaning products designed for sheet vinyl or tile floors on wood or laminate. Do not wet-mop wood or laminate. Standing water can dull the finish, damage the wood or delaminate the laminate floor.
  •  Wipe up wet spills quickly. Use a towel that’s barely damp. Do not use a vacuum with a beater bar.
  •  Keep your pets’ nails trimmed so they don’t scratch the floor’s protective top coat.
